The PaCSIA team has just returned from another field trip to Bougainville in which we met with our local facilitators from Central and Bana areas and discussed the progress of the consultation process between the Government of Papua New Guinea and the Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG) with important stakeholders.
We are happy to share a video featuring Mr James Tanis, a former president of Bougainville and an eminent politician and advisor to the ABG consultation team. In the following video Mr Tanis provides an overview of the consultation process between the two governments and calls for a national dialogue between Bougainville and Papua New Guinea to redefine the relationship of both peoples.
Bougainville’s aspiration to become an independent nation does not mean cutting ties with Papua New Guinea, it means working together as equal partners. PaCSIA is proud to support the transition process through our work and we offer to assist both governments with this national dialogue.
